Australian trade businesses may soon benefit from a new package of solar energy incentives aimed at reducing operating costs and accelerating the transition to renewable energy across small and medium enterprises.
Under the proposed scheme, eligible businesses including electricians, plumbers, landscapers, and construction firms could access rebates and low-interest financing for rooftop solar systems, battery storage installations, and energy-efficient equipment upgrades.
Industry groups say rising electricity prices have pushed many trade operators to explore renewable energy solutions, particularly businesses operating warehouses, workshops, and fleets with high daytime energy consumption. The new incentives are expected to encourage faster adoption among businesses that previously considered solar installations too expensive.
Government officials say the program will also support emissions reduction targets while helping small businesses improve long-term energy security. Several renewable energy providers have already reported increased enquiries following the announcement.
